Holy fuck, wait, is that an artificial addition at 0:27? I've never noticed that Sam was just humming to himself before Ellie gets his attention. That's an amazing detail... It makes you wonder how much of the original person might still exist underneath the Cordyceps. Like, he couldn't hear, he turned himself in the opposite direction of Ellie intentionally to ensure he didn't attack her while she slept... And then he was just humming something. But then the fungal instinct took over once it saw potential prey. Damn, can't believe I've never noticed that detail before.
